Hi Eddy D’Amato, how are you? Congrats on the release of ‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm!’

Thank you so much! I’m super excited about this release!

What was the inspiration behind ‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm,’ and how did the idea for the track first come to life?

The idea for the track came to life a little over a year ago. I remember being at my house on the Riviera, working on an old project called “The Rhythm.” In the end, that track didn’t fully convince me, so I decided to start something new but wanted to keep the title. That’s when I created the vocal saying, “The Funk, The Soul, The Rhythm,” and that’s how the new track became “Funk, Soul, Rhythm.”

Can you walk us through the production process for this track? Did it come together quickly, or did it take time to refine?

Like most of my tracks, I start by creating the main idea in a loop where almost all the elements come to life. Once I’m 100% convinced, I break everything down and begin composing the structure, gradually introducing all the elements. The creative process was pretty quick, but the track reached its “completeness” after months of small refinements.

The track features stuttering synth leads, risers, and catchy motifs. Can you share your process for creating and layering these intricate details?

Sure! I started with layering the synth leads, then built out all the various effects around them so that each element had its own space within the mix, while also being integrated as part of the whole. I automated quite a bit of the synths and all the main instruments to make them more dynamic throughout the track.

Do you feel this release captures your signature sound, or does it mark a step in a new direction?

It’s definitely one of my best releases, and I think it could be the starting point for taking my career to the next level.

What tools or software did you rely on most while producing ‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm’?

I’m a Logic guy, it’s the software I use for all my productions. On the plugin side, I used Decapitator by Soundtoys to add that touch of distortion that’s a must-have.

Were there any go-to plugins or hardware that defined the sound?

The vocal track chain is pretty complex, but one EQ plugin that’s been super helpful is definitely the FabFilter ProQ3.

Do you have a favourite moment or detail in ‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm’ that you think will resonate with your audience?

The moment before the drop, I think it gives a real boost to anyone who listens to it. It got me pumped up in the studio while I was producing it, and I’m sure it’ll be really appreciated by the crowd on the dancefloor!

How did you approach the arrangement of ‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm’ to keep the energy flowing throughout the track?

I tried to create a dynamic arrangement with multiple breaks and, most importantly, an introduction of elements that keeps the listener’s interest high throughout

‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm’ has already achieved a big milestone, how does it feel and can you tell us more about it?

Amazing! Within just a week, the track has made it into the Top 100 Techno chart on Beatport.

Can you share what’s next for Eddy D’Amato? Any more upcoming releases or projects?

I’m working with my team to kick off 2025 in the best way possible. Right now, I’m in a creative phase in the studio, crafting tracks that have a real chance of being signed by top-tier labels, but I don’t want to give too much away just yet.

As we end our interview, we thank Eddy D’Amato for his time in allowing us a glimpse into his creative world and providing us with insights into his process and the production technicalities that brought his ‘Funk, Soul, Rhythm’ to life.
