A new survey from DS18 highlights a growing demand for better sound on the road. In the company’s 2026 American Driving Experience Report, 1,000 U.S. drivers shared how music, podcasts, and entertainment shape their time behind the wheel—and the results make one thing clear: car audio matters.
More than nine out of 10 drivers said they have remained in their parked vehicle to finish listening to a song, podcast episode, or show. When given the choice to improve one feature in their vehicle, 26.8% selected their audio system—the highest response of any upgrade category.
Interest in aftermarket audio is also strong. Nearly 30% of respondents have already upgraded their vehicle’s sound system, while others plan to make improvements within the next year or are considering an upgrade later. Speakers were the number-one product drivers wanted to upgrade, while complete systems, stereo head units, subwoofers, and amplifiers also ranked among popular choices.
With many consumers willing to spend $250 to $1,000 on their next audio upgrade, the survey reflects a clear opportunity for drivers to improve every commute, road trip, and weekend ride. Whether it’s deeper bass, clearer vocals, or more power, DS18 is helping drivers create the sound experience they want.
