An emotional anthem of resilience, vulnerability and hope from one of Britain’s most distinctive voices

Following the success of recent singles ‘Love Me Again (Again)’ and ‘Merry Go’, John Newman continues his remarkable creative resurgence with the release of his new single, ‘Throw Me A Line’, arriving 26th June 2026.

Written by John Newman and Yaroslav Polikarpov, and produced by Newman alongside Polikarpov and Robin Klaver, ‘Throw Me A Line’ showcases a more introspective side to the acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer. Combining soaring melodies with his unmistakable soulful delivery, the record explores the emotional realities that can exist behind success.

“Throw Me A Line” captures the emotional push and pull of life in the spotlight, moving fast while feeling stuck beneath the surface. The song reflects moments of doubt, exhaustion and longing for connection when the pressure starts to weigh heavy.” John says, “It speaks to feeling caught in the tide, asking for a lifeline before giving up. At its core, it’s a hopeful call for support, and the belief that light is still breaking through.”

Newman first burst onto the scene in 2012 when he featured on Rudimental’s UK No.1 hit ‘Feel The Love’, introducing his powerful and distinctive voice to audiences around the world. His ascent continued with debut solo single ‘Love Me Again’, which reached No.1 in the UK, cracked the Top 10 in more than 30 countries and has since accumulated over 1.6 billion streams globally.

In 2014, he joined forces with Calvin Harris for the chart-topping smash ‘Blame’, which became the first track in Spotify history to surpass 10 million streams in a single week. Across his career, Newman has achieved nine No.1 records as both a songwriter and artist, collaborating with global stars including Kygo, David Guetta and Galantis, earning three BRIT Award nominations and generating more than 2.5 billion streams.

While those achievements cemented Newman as one of Britain’s most successful modern voices, they also came with immense pressure. In recent years, he stepped away from the spotlight, allowing himself time to heal, reset and rediscover his passion for creating music on his own terms.

The journey back has seen Newman reconnect with the foundations that first inspired him, returning to dance music production and embracing a more instinctive, creative approach. Free from expectation, he has found himself creating purely from curiosity and passion once again. What began as a personal rebuild has evolved into a powerful new chapter. Newman has since returned to stages across Europe and beyond, delivering standout performances at Tomorrowland Belgium and Brazil, Creamfields Chile, Exit Festival, Electric Love Festival, Beats for Love and Saga Festival.

That momentum continues throughout 2026, with major performances scheduled at Tomorrowland Main Stage, Ushuaïa, AIA Sound Festival, Focus Festival and the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, alongside a growing catalogue of new music that signals one of the most exciting periods of his career.

With ‘Throw Me A Line’, Newman delivers one of his most personal releases to date; a powerful reminder that vulnerability and strength often go hand in hand. As he continues to open a new creative chapter, the single further establishes his return not simply as a comeback, but as the beginning of something new.
