After garnering 182 million streams with BBCC, production wizard TACTICS forges a new path, dishing out ten solo dance belters spanning UKG, rave and prog house
Yorkshire producer/DJ TACTICS reveals his debut solo album, ‘Swift & Bold’, set for release on Wednesday 30th October on Afta Party Records via The Orchard.
It marks a new chapter for TACTICS, commonly known as the mastermind producer and DJ behind rap and bassline trio Bad Boy Chiller Crew. While still part of their setup, Swift & Bold is a place for TACTICS to remove his balaclava and come to the forefront whilst exploring new corners of dance music, from epic rave like ‘When I’m On Set,’ to melodic UKG on ‘So Wait For Me,’ and catchy electro house on the Disclosure-inspired ‘Lost In Desire.’
Swift & Bold delivers ten tracks of pure dance fire that’s a fluctuating, labelless hybrid of all his influences: “I didn’t want to just create the same similar sounds I create for Badboy Chiller Crew. That’s their niche but when it comes to my music I want it to be different from theirs, and express my own influences from my youth to now. It’s a hybrid of all my upbringings and influences, be it bassline, garage, organ, breakbeat, pop. Removing my balaclava and starting afresh, I can put my name to these songs because there’s no one better to express these songs than myself.”
Swift & Bold isn’t the first time fans have heard TACTICS solo. He remixed BBCC tracks ‘When It Rains It Pours’ and ‘Don’t You Worry About Me,’ and released the trance track ‘ROBERTS AIRWAVE’ with ZANDER CLUB in May, a tribute to the late Robert Miles. Receiving regular support from the likes of Patrick Topping, he also dropped piano house singles ‘Crazy For You’ and ‘The Next Night’ in 2023 with Relentless Records.
TACTICS draws from diverse influences, rooted in his early love for garage, bassline, and organ house. Growing up on Pay As U Go Cartel, Heartless Crew, DJ Luck, MC Neat and Sidewinder Garage packs, he now finds himself heavily influenced by producers like Chris Lorenzo, Franky Wah, Max Martin, Scott Storch, Disclosure and Bicep. After serving in the army, where music was his outlet, he pursued production professionally at Point Blank Music School under renowned producer Shadow Child. His work with BBCC produced the chart-topping album Disrespectful (which reached No. 1 on the Official Dance Album Charts) and the hit single ‘BMW,’ which reached No. 7 on the Official UK Singles Charts and now has over 40M Spotify streams. As part of BBCC, TACTICS has worked with the likes of Mist, Bugzy Malone, French the Kid, Majestic and DJ Q, has performed all over the UK, and recently toured Australia and New Zealand.
On ‘Swift & Bold’, TACTICS re-affirms his status as a producer to watch. Now in his own lane, he moves out of the shadows and into the forefront, announcing himself as a solo producer in his own right, bursting with big ideas and dance belters.
